Story of Yanxi Palace - Episode 10 [Recap]

Ying Luo talks with Auntie Zhang and tells her that she confronted the Fu Heng and suspects that he is an enemy of her sister. Auntie Zhang told her not to jump to conclusions.

Back at the Empress' palace, Ying Luo brings in her tea. The Empress then asks her to make her ink to write with while Ming Yu stares at her with jealousy. They discussed a couple of things and the Ying Luo wonders why the Empress doesn't announce all the good things that she is doing such as donating her money. The Empress states that if it is being publicized, it would seem ingenuine.

They continued on their conversation and when Ying Luo was criticizing an Emperor, the Emperor walks in to visit the Empress. The Emperor overhears the conversation and threatens to kill Ying Luo.  Ying Luo somehow manages to talk herself out of it, with the help of the Empress backing her up. The Emperor lets it go. Just as she was about to leave, the Emperor realizes that she was the person who tricked him earlier, telling him that the tree spirit came into her dreams.  He then warns the Empress about her, saying that he thinks that she is rising through the ranks too fast.  The Empress trusts her intuition and states that she trusts Ying Luo.

Consort Xian's family requests money from her to help her brother who is in jail and needs to see a doctor.  She goes to the treasury to try to get her provisions in advance but they are not able to give her anything until half a year after.  Just as they were about to leave, they overhear that Noble Consort Gao's servant request something for her dog, Snowball, and they allow it.

The Empress then talks to her brother and tells him that he's around the age which he should get married. Just when he was able to leave, Ying Luo calls for him and accidentally trips and falls into his arms.  She then gives him a hot water bag since he is always working outside.  He seems really happy about it and brags about it to Hai Lancha.  He takes the hot water bag and after fooling around with it, it breaks and scalding water pours all over him. Fu Heng then asks to meet with Ying Luo, suspecting her to purposely sabotage him. She tries to sneak up on him and push him, but he was fast enough to react and they end up falling on the floor together. Ying Luo convinced him that it was an accident and she didn't mean him any harm.  As he leaves, she whispers to herself, saying that he's lucky, but she'll get him next time.  Fu Heng seems to start falling for her.

Consort Xian continues to look for ways of getting money and meets with some servants to sell her jewellery. She instructs them to do it discreetly and not to tell anyone that she is selling the items, only to be caught by Noble Consort Gao. Consort Xian's maid tries to protect her and tells Noble Consort Gao that she was the one that stole her items and wanted to sell it on her own and that it had nothing to do with Consort Xian.  She was just walking by and caught her in the act.  However, the Eunuch doesn't admit the same crime and says that he did nothing wrong and blames it on the other Eunuch, beating him up. Consort Xian then admits that she instigated everything, but she was only selling her own belongings, not things that the King gave her, therefore not breaking any rules. Noble Consort Gao then states that once she enters the palace, all her belongings belong to the King. Noble Consort Gao then gets her to kneel down and beg her to let her sell her belongings to get money. Even after Consort Xian begged her, she tells the servants to destroy all her jewellery.

Lady Jia tries to teach her son, the Fourth Prince, to speak a phrase, but he wasn't able to say it correctly. She is disappointed and then worries that the unborn baby would be smarter than her child.  She then thinks of Snowball and tells her maid to arrange a meeting with Lady Yu.

------------

It's funny how Ying Luo seems to get the best of the Emperor, even after only a few meetings.  I want to believe that Ying Luo truly wants the best for the Empress rather than betray her in the end if Fu Heng actually is related to her sister's death.

I don't like where the relationship between Fu Heng and Ying Luo is going.  She clearly is trying to sabotage him but he seems to fall for her flirtatious behavior... Based on what we have seen from him so far, it doesn't seem like he had anything to do with her sister's death (although it is suspicious that she had his jade charm).  Even though he is related to the Empress, he doesn't seem to be using that relationship to 'rise through the ranks'.

My heart goes out to Consort Xian. She's doing everything right and follows the palace rules to the T but everything is going wrong.

I don't know what Lady Jia is up to, but I hope Ying Luo has a way of stopping it from happening...
