The Princess Wei Young: Episode 34

Li Wei Young goes to the place indicated by the map and digs out a box with another letter.  At this time, Jun Tao goes to Prince Gao Yang and gives him the copy of the map and filled him in with the details.  He then takes off to find LWY.

Meanwhile, the Crown Princess is preparing some of her most prized jewels to LWY.  LWY then comes to visit her and she gives the jewellery to her.  LWY then hints that she has to tell her something in private.  The Crown Princess dismisses her maid and LWY comes close to whisper something in her ear.  Just then, she takes one of her hairpins and stabs the Crown Princess in the chest.  LWY states that she never liked Prince GY and that she was just using him all along and runs away.  The maid comes back and the Crown Princess tells her that it was LWY who stabbed her.

Prince GY then comes back and is given the news that his mother was stabbed.  In her last breath, she tells him that it was LWY who stabbed her and to stay away from her.  She tells Prince GY to stay away from her and to run away and not to blame himself for anything.

LWY comes back and is arrested and brought back to Prince GY, who is still on the floor with the Crown Princess in his arms.  He questions LWY and where she had been and why she killed his mother.  LWY had no clue what was going on and said that she didn’t kill her.  She said that she went to the location from the map and got another note telling her to go somewhere else.  Prince GY replied, saying that when he went, he did not see her.  LWY continues to deny that she killed the Crown Princess and that she’ll try to prove it to him.

They go to the Li Residence LWY just falls deeper and deeper into the trap.  The Prince, still charged with emotion from the death of his mother and disbelief in the situation, seems to truly believe that LWY killed his mother and used him so that she could get revenge for the death of her family.  LWY continues to say that her feelings for him were always real and she never used him in any way.  She tried one last attempt to gain his trust back by holding on to his face, making him stare straight into her eyes, and ask him if he truly doesn’t trust her anymore.
LWY: "Did you actually think that I lied to you? That I killed your mother?  That all we had gone through was fake?
Prince GY: “No matter what, I no longer trust you.”
LWY is now in jail but the Princess and Li Min De comes to visit her.  They both believe that she didn’t kill the Crown Princess and that she was framed.  LWY asks the Princess to take care of Prince GY for her since he’s probably going through his toughest time now and says that she doesn’t blame him for not believing in her.  Just then, she realizes a way to prove herself innocent and asks for LMD to help her.

LCL and LCR meet and discuss about their successful plan.  LCL wonders out loud whether LCR would turn her back on her soon.  LCR states that LWY cannot be saved now and they successfully got rid of her.  General Chiyan Nan wonders what had happen and why LWY would kill the Crown Princess and decides to end it all by killing her.

Back in jail, LWY wonders who could have accused her.  We see the flashback of what really had happen.  She then remembers the incident when a person who looked exactly like the real LWY appeared in front of them when the family was questioning her identity.  She finally caught a sense of what happened.

Back at the Li Residence, LCL has a nightmare that she sees the Crown Princess’ ghost and that she strangles her and then stabs her with the hairpin that killed her.  She wakes up, repeating, “It wasn’t me.  It was Li Wei Young that killed you.”

She then gives her respect to her, seeing Prince GY there as well.  She tells him that she would comfort her.  He says that he doesn’t need her comfort and throws some stuff in the fire.  This made the fire inflame quite a bit which startles LCL a bit.

LCR then goes to visit Prince NA’s mother and gives her the inked out portrait of LWY with her birthmark clearly shown.

A solider in disguise infiltrated the jail where LWY is and tries to kill her.  LWY saw this coming and was able to knock out the solider and switched uniforms with him.  She then sets the jail on fire and flees.  She meets up with LMD and he told her that he found the evidence that she was looking for to prove her innocence.  LWY then convinced him to oust her out so she could have a meeting with the King.  LMD is clearly worried but reluctantly followed along with the plan.

Did masks of the sort that would have allowed the Crown Princess's murderer to look like Wei Young even exist in ancient China? I imagine that a mask like that would have to be made of some kind of rubber? I know that commercial extraction of rubber latex from trees only began after the 18th century, but I'm genuinely curious as to whether similar technology would have been available in the Wei era?

No absolutely not. And the mask was flawless. It might as well have been the magic from the Faceless Men in Game of Thrones! That’s why this is total BS and shouldn’t have been used in the show. I mean showing warriors flying is one thing.. but this is just cheating.
